With Campus Melaten, the city and RWTH Aachen are aiming to position RWTH as one of the world’s leading technical universities and to make its research expertise more visible through the combination of science and industry.
The Production Engineering Cluster, comprising 33,000 square metres of gross floor space and 554 car parking spaces, is currently the largest building complex at Campus Melaten and is expected to become one of the largest research laboratories in the area of production engineering and Industry 4.0 in Europe.
The Production Engineering Cluster offers around 23,000m² of office space, 5,300m² of hall and production space and 420m² of catering space.
The tenants’ research focus is digitally-integrated production, in particular the near real-time simulation of complex production chains, learning factories with big data usage and use concepts for cloud technologies for the engineering-based mastery of production control.
Over 100 companies in the fields of production machinery, road and rail vehicles, electric drive systems, aircraft and complex tools work together with tenants of the Production Engineering Cluster.
The Production Engineering Cluster is easily accessible by public transport, car and bicycle. Restaurants, shopping facilities and service providers integrate Campus Melaten into public life.
