"Stop, look and marvel was the theme for the VIP guests from politics and business who took a close look at the new pearl of Cologne for the first time", the 'Kölner Express' writes about the opening of our Gerling Quartier's piazza on 25 September. The festivities basically represented the conclusion of the first phase of construction.
While the official ceremony took place on Friday with several hundred guests, on Saturday there was a large festival for the general public. Several thousand residents of Cologne visited the piazza and enjoyed the children's and entertainment programme as well as the range culinary offers.
In his speech IMMOFINANZ CEO Oliver Schumy thanked the city of Cologne, first and foremost Mayor Jürgen Roters, as well as all those who unfailingly put their heart and soul into it. "Of course with a project on this scale there are often minor as well as major obstacles to clear, but it was possible to handle these challenges outstandingly well thanks to the professionalism, the excellent cooperation between every person and team involved and – not least – their attachment to this project".
IMMOFINANZ will also do everything in its power to quickly and successfully complete the second construction phase of Gerling Quartier.
Mayor Roters, in turn, thanked IMMOFINANZ "for the courage it mustered to redevelop this sizeable quarter". The piazza with its redesigned quarter is open to all residents of Cologne.
Below are numerous pictures as well as several links to the latest media coverage (in German). In the WDR report two apartment buyers also speak. Their conclusion: "It's an extraordinarily wonderful feeling to be here".
