A celebration recently took place at the Düsseldorfer Medienhafen. Together with our key tenant Uniper, we invited guests to the so-called topping out ceremony - a special type of roofing ceremony for buildings with flat roofs - at our FLOAT office property construction site. The construction of the complex, consisting of six elements, is making good progress. It is expected that at the end of 2018, the international energy company Uniper will move into an area of around 28,000 sqm, thereby occupying the entire office space in the building designed by the top architect Renzo Piano.Mayor Thomas Geisel was also present at the topping out ceremony: "It gives me great pleasure that, with the new Uniper headquarters, a gap in the southern part of the Medienhafen has been so superbly addressed in urban development terms." Uniper CEO Klaus Schäfer associates more than just a building with the future headquarters at the Medienhafen: "This location for us stands for creativity, optimism and change, and an international atmosphere - these are values which shape Uniper's philosophy. Consequently, FLOAT is more than a construction project for us." This fact was also emphasised by our COO Dietmar Reindl: “The architectural concept, which Renzo Piano based on the idea of ice floes, represents the opening of new perspectives and therefore fits perfectly to Uniper's corporate philosophy.”
Following the official proceedings, there was a get-together with snacks and drinks at which this major construction phase was toasted. A few photos are attached.
