IMMOFINANZ and Uniper celebrate topping out ceremony for the FLOAT office property at the Düsseldorfer Medienhafen
IMMOFINANZ is currently developing the new headquarters for the energy company Uniper at the Düsseldorfer Medienhafen. Today, Monday, the topping out ceremony for the FLOAT office complex took place, attended by the Mayor Thomas Geisel and Uniper CEO Klaus Schäfer. Uniper is expected to move into an area of around 28,000 sqm at the end of 2018, thereby occupying the entire office space in the building designed by the top architect Renzo Piano.
"FLOAT is a revolutionary project for us. It meets all the requirements of the latest generation of offices, has an exceptional design and a prominent location in the Medienhafen. The architectural concept, which Renzo Piano based on the idea of ice floes, also represents the opening of new perspectives and therefore fits perfectly to Uniper's corporate philosophy", said Dietmar Reindl, COO of IMMOFINANZ.
Mayor Thomas Geisel commented on the project: "With FLOAT, a further highlight is taking shape in the Medienhafen. It gives me great pleasure that, with the new Uniper headquarters, a gap in the southern part of the Medienhafen has been so superbly addressed in urban development terms. Renzo Piano's architecture represents openness and vitality. The gastronomy offering and showrooms on the ground floor further enliven the Medienhafen. The large-scale IMMOFINANZ projects demonstrate how attractive the Medienhafen is as a location for property investments in Düsseldorf, the state capital."

FLOAT is a complex consisting of six elements: The individual building structures have polygonal floor plans and are linked to one another by a connecting structure, the "Passerelle", in the southern part of the complex. The name "FLOAT" reflects Renzo Piano's architectural concept, based on the idea of ice floes for the individual buildings and their interaction with one another. Alongside FLOAT, IMMOFINANZ is also constructing the new headquarters for trivago in the Düsseldorfer Medienhafen, with a rentable area in the first construction phase of around 26,000 sqm.
